Liking Lately

Holy Cow, have you seen this?  This 4-year old makes amazing dresses out of paper.  So cute and talented. She even has her own blog.  Amazing!  I am not sure what kind of crafts I was doing at age 4 but I can assure you it was nothing like this.

After yelling (a lot) at a truck in front of me this morning that stopped at a round about where no one else was coming. - I think I need to read this.  Really, the whole point of a round about is to keep the traffic MOVING.

Can I tell you how excited I am for the Oscars on Sunday?  I'm excited.  I do not know how Lupita Nyong'o can beat this dress she wore at the SAG Awards.

I can't wait to see what she is wearing on Sunday.  She has looked amazing at every event she has attended this year.

I went into Anthropologie the other day when I was at the mall returning a few things.

I saw this skirt hanging all by its lonesome and I rushed to it.  Really, I did.  Rushed.  I love paisley for some reason and really like the colors.  But do I need it?  No.  So in my efforts to buy less, I talked myself out of it and walked out of the mall with nothing. I think I may stalk it until it goes on clearance.

Magazine Hoarder

My mom has been slowly giving me things she has been finding of mine around the house. I seriously thought I had all of my stuff out of there!  I don't know where I stashed all of these magazines she is sending me.  I may or may not have a magazine hoarding problem but at least I am not doing it at my house!  I'm still obsessed with reading them but do a better job at recycling them or giving them away rather than keeping them.

Remember YM?  It was the best magazine ever.  I probably kept this one because it is Harry's wife on the cover.  Harry Connick Jr. and yes I just refer to as Harry because I love him that much.  I still love him but even he can't make me watch American Idol.

Oh how I loved Tom Cruise in 1990.  I remember a lot of slumber parties with Top Gun playing but I don't really remember ever just sitting down and really watching it.   And I don't think I ever watched Days of Thunder which actually came out around 1990 I think.  I guess I really liked Tom Cruise but not his movies!

Interestingly, People in 1990 had pretty much all black and white pictures inside and mostly cigarette ads.  How times have changed.

February 1991 Vogue - Mixing prints is nothing new!  Florals and stripes never really go out of style do they?  Look at her earrings though. Wow.

Liking Lately

Here are some things I have liked lately...

Love these faux leather perforated tops at Kohl's (can't find them online).

I bought these sandals from Piperlime with their 20% off and a rewards thing I had.  I love them! Now if only the weather would magically turn to spring so I can wear them.

I have subscribed to the Popsugar Must Have Box for almost a year now and I love getting my "surprise" in the mail each month.  I have been hesitant to get another monthly subscription because the Popsugar box is a little expensive and my husband already jokes he is buddies with the UPS man because he sees him so often. But when I read about Love With Food, I wanted to try it.

Love with Food sends a box each month with organic, all natural snacks.  They don't send anything with trans fats, high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors or flavorings.  For each box sold they donate a meal to several food banks such as Feeding America Network and Share our Strength - No Kid Hungry. They have a variety of subscriptions available and the boxes are as low as $10 a month.  I got my first box this month and I loved all of the snacks in it.  My favorite so far were these Dark Chocolate Covered Blueberries by Emily's Chocolate.  SO GOOD!  (I was not paid or asked to write this.  Just wanted to share! If you subscribe using the link above I do get credits to use towards purchasing more snacks but that is available to everyone.)

 Another good snack...

If I go to Whole Foods I snatch up one of these juices.  I managed to snap a picture of this one before I completely finished it.  I don't do juice cleanses or drink juices in lieu of meals or anything but this one is delicious!

Outfit Inspiration: Distressed Boyfriend Jeans

I love, love the look of boyfriend jeans.  Especially distressed ones.  This isn't new.  I posted about it last year here and take one look at my Pinterest style board and you'll know I'm a fan.

I bought some from Old Navy and haven't worn them yet.  I don't know why I don't think I can pull this look off...  I guess I just haven't found the perfect way to wear them or the perfect place to wear them to.

In the meantime I'll keep pinning other people wearing them.

Liking Lately

I'm still trying to figure out where I want to go with this blog or if I want to continue it.  If I do keep it up, I want to keep true to its original roots, a way for me to share and collect things that I like and find inspiring.

So here are some of the things I have been liking lately:

-I kept the same resolutions for 2014 that I had for 2013 and one of them is to buy less and only buy quality things.  I think this article about minimalism is inspiring.

-Along those same lines, Cuyana had a really great Lean Closet Series.  Love their thought of Fewer, Better Things for 2014.  Of course I went back to my "old" ways last weekend though and bought three shirts at J.C. Penny for $11.00.  It will be really hard to break my more for less mind set to a less is more. Even though getting a great deal is exciting, purchasing one shirt that is perfect, better made and that I will wear a million times is worth spending more than $11.00 to get 3 shirts that honestly don't even fit me that great and I certainly don't NEED. But really, 3 shirts for $11.00!  I'm still working on it.

-New favorite lunch - Butternut Squash Soup with Farro and Goat Cheese added...  yum.

-I like to try and make healthier versions of bad for you foods.  It's still not that healthy but I can get my cravings for chocolate satisfied and my stomach doesn't hate me as much if I eat something a little more nutritious.  I'm not totally gluten free but I had some almond flour on hand so I made these Gluten-Free Almond Brownies.  They were easy to make and tasted great.

January Photo A Day: Days 28-31

Here are the last few days of the January Photo A Day Challenge.

Day 28:  Dinner

Homemade tortilla chips (a few corn tortillas baked), brown rice, cheese, tomatoes, guac and sour cream. Yes, I did mix all of this together right after I took the picture.

Day 29:  Window

It's a picture of a window, taken from a window, that has the reflection of the window in it.

Day 30:  Best Invention Ever

A poor representation of electricity which I think is one of the best inventions ever.  Also, after looking at this picture I noticed I have a 60 watt light bulb in a fixture that says you should only use 40 watts.  Whoops.

Day 31:  Polka Dot
