Friday's Fancies: Me Outfit

I have to say I almost did not participate in this week's Friday's Fancies theme from {Long Distance Loving}.  The suggested theme is to "Dress yourself", that is, to post an outfit that is totally you.  I struggle with this because I usually feel dissatisfied with my outfits.  I'm always thinking that someone else I see while out or on a blog or on TV looks better and I think, "how can I look like that?" instead of being satisfied with what I am wearing.  This feeling contributes to a closet stuffed with things I don't love and the feeling of always wanting something else, something different, something more. So I spend too much and have too much. I hardly ever feel like I achieve the look I want to portray with my appearance and sometimes in what I say or how I act too.  It is something I'm working on and I feel my style (and me?) is (are) evolving into something better...  but I digress...  self esteem issues aside, let's continue with Friday's Fancies!

So thinking purely about what I feel most comfortable wearing, lately it is usually a less fitted top or layers and skinny bottoms with boots or a dress, cardigan or blazer, tights and boots.

Here is what I wore for a recent shopping trip.  This is a very typical weekend outfit for me.

What I Wore: Shopping

Rebecca Minkoff mini skirt

Old Navy skinny fit jeans

Suede boots

Michael kors watch

Everything here is what I actually own except for the sweater (this is a similar style and color to the one I have from Forever 21 that I bought last year) and my mini mac bag is a tan color with gold hardware.  Other than that, this is exactly what I wore.    The I Heart Ronson jacket is from early 2011 I think. I love it and have worn it a lot.  I bought the scarf on etsy last year, also love.  I bought my Michael Kors layton watch when it was marked down for Nordstrom's anniversary sale last year.  These suede boots from Kohls are surprisingly comfortable.  I bought them this fall and have worn them a bunch already.

Here is a recent (October? ok, not so recent) work outfit that is my favorite type of outfit for work.  Just add tights now that it is colder.

Pinteresting Wednesday: Chic and Cozy

It's really starting to get cold outside (and inside - the insulation in our house is HORRIBLE).  So one can't help but think of things that make you comfy, cozy, and subsequently, warm.

Linking up with The Vintage Apple again for Pinteresting Wednesday!

A big scarf is always a good idea when it is cold.  Especially one with pockets...

or one that could double as a blanket.

It's sweater weather for sure.  Nothing beats a big comfy sweater and a mug with a hot drink.

Maybe your mug needs a sweater too?

Chicken and Dumplings is a great cozy, cold weather recipe.  I've never made it in the crock pot before though.  I'm ready to try this recipe.

It never hurts to be able to cuddle up near a fire.  I love the built in seats next to this one.

Birds On A Wire

I'm a big fan of birds.  I'm not a bird watcher per se...but I may be heading that way.  I did go on a guided bird walk in Sedona on our most recent vacation and was asked how long I had been "birding".  Um, I'm not sure...I just like birds.

Anyway, I have a favorite necklace with two birds on a branch that I received from a friend for my birthday.  I love to check out other bird jewelry.  I happened across this JCPenny necklace and was a little taken aback...

Decree® Bird Statement Necklace
I just think it is a bit much.
This one from Marc Jacobs is a little more my style:
Marc by Marc Jacobs Petal To The Metal Flock Necklace
WAS $248 NOW $148.99

For a less expensive version:

Miss KL
$17 – $20

Honestly, I really like the simple bird necklaces the best.

Frugal Option: Celine Boston Bag

Nordstrom has a few good Cyber Monday deals.  I'm always carrying way too much stuff around with me so I always check out the big bags and totes.

This one caught my eye:

Normally $58 - Now on Sale for $34.80

Maybe because it looks a lot like this one?

Celine Boston Tote - This is from a year or two ago.  I don't think it is still available.

Pinteresting Wednesday: Thanksgiving

Today I'm linking up with The Vintage Apple for Pinteresting Wednesday and tomorrow is Thanksgiving!

Here is the perfect outfit for all the eating that is going to happen:

I would like to drink this:

I'm not cooking the turkey, so I won't have leftovers but if I did, I would totally make this:

If I was better at this kind of thing, I would make these to take to Thanksgiving at Mom and Dad's:

It's good to remember to be thankful...despite all the stress the Holidays may bring.

Interior Inspiration: Living Room Area Rug Ideas

I'm on the hunt for a new living room area rug and curtains. I've actually been looking for a while now but I'm taking my time looking for the perfect combination.  I want to add a little bit of texture and/or pattern to our space.

I'm really loving the shaggy ivory type of rug in the last three pics but I'm not sure how that would work with a chihuahua at home who gets her nails stuck in our current area rug.  I wonder if we could take her to a store with one and see how she would do walking in it?  I wonder if we would get in trouble if she bit the salesperson?

Honestly, I would take any of these living rooms.  Love them all.

Frugal (Available) Options: Report Jude Boots

For a few months, I casually admired the Report Jude Boots that I saw Olivia Palermo wearing.

I told myself I didn't need another pair of boots.  I have a pair of mid calf black motorcycle boots; what am I thinking wanting a pair of esssentially the same boots, just shorter?  But I can't stop thinking about them! I keep finding myself putting together outfits that they would work perfectly with and would be better with than the taller boots I have.  So I decided to purchase them when I received a discount for Piperlime and guess what, they are sold out.  Not just there, everywhere!  Figures.

I went ahead and ordered them from Piperlime though and they are scheduled to ship at the end of January.  I don't know if I want to wait that long and what if they don't even come then?  So I have been looking for a look a like or at least a similar version.  This is what I have found so far:

ETA (11/20/12):  Well, Piperlime lied.  I received the Report Jude boots in the mail YESTERDAY mere hours after I posted this.  Those teases, they weren't back ordered until January! (My husband thinks that since I buy so much from them that they made an exception for me and found me a special pair.  I think he meant this as a dig because he thinks I shop too much but I think it is a compliment.  :) )  Oh, the boots are amazing!!
