I love to use a small crossbody bag when running around on the weekends. Marc by Marc Jacobs has some cute straw ones with colorful accents that are perfect for summer. I hate to spend too much on such a small bag that I'm not going to use everyday though. Ebags has a similar style to the Marc Jacobs Straw Canteen Bag for a lot less.
I did not go to the Indy 500 this year but I did go to the 500 parade. Those of you who aren't from Indy may not know there is a parade on the Saturday before the race. All of the drivers are in the parade along with some "celebrities" that are in town for the race as well as the normal parade fare bands, floats, etc. This year's Grand Marshall was Olivia Newton-John. I know, I don't know why either. Regardless of their celebrity status, I always look forward to practicing my paparazzi skills and get some pictures of folks you don't normally see around Indianapolis.
On Saturday it was 90 degrees and humid. I felt so bad for the people in the parade! How do those kids in the band uniforms not pass out? Maria Menounos looked so pretty in her coral sun dress. It looked perfect for the hot day. (I was really excited to see Derek Hough in the car with her.) You can get Maria's dress at Last Call by Neiman Marcus for just $110.
On some Fridays I put together a shopping wish list of things I'm loving at that moment. I have been spending way too much money lately so am going to try and stay away from looking for things to wish for. Maybe if I don't see it, I won't want it, right? So this Friday I thought I would share some of my current favorite non-clothing or style related pins from Pinterest. You can see all of my pins and follow me on pinterest here.
I've seen these Dolce Vita Archer Flat Sandals and similar styles all over already this spring. They aren't too expensive ($69) and are available at many retailers and come in assorted colors. Target has a similar version for a lot less, only $14.99, and it also comes in a variety of colors.
I love a minimalistic and clean look while still being comfortable. I think all of these spaces fit that description. Plus I love how decorating predominately with white makes the spaces look so bright and airy.
A satin dress never really goes out of style but I have to admit I was surprised to see this fabric on the red carpet recently, especially in a bias cut. The dresses below remind me of old Hollywood glamour of the 1930's. I do happen to remember a slight resurgence of the slinky bias cut satin dress in the '90's. I wore a pale blue number to prom one year...sorry no pictures available of that!
As I bring out my more summery work attire from last year, I feel like most of it is awful. Either it doesn't fit properly or it looks or worn out or I just don't like it. I might try to add a few (ok let's get real - more than a few) items to polish my work wardrobe a bit.
