Wish I Was Here Wednesday

I fell in love with courtyards when I went to New Orleans in the fall of 2000. I don't think there is any other place that is more romantic.

Spring Trend: Bright Colors - Pops of Turquoise

Bright color is a big spring trend.

Blake Lively looks great Emilio Pucci below.

You can easily incorporate bright colors into your wardrobe with just one item, a necklace, bag, belt or shoes.

Turquoise has always been my favorite color and in fact my childhood bedroom at my parents' house is still painted the turquoise I picked out when I was 10 or so.  (I also had a pair of high top turquoise Chuck Taylors - how awesome is that!?)

Here are some fabulous turquoise items to incorporate into your wardrobe or home for a pop of bright color.

Weekly Gratitude

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant:
if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."
- Anne Bradstreet

Growing up, my mom had a book of poems titled "How Does the Crocus Know it's Spring?".  I remember when I was little always reading that and wondering what the heck a crocus was and still not understanding how it knew it was spring.  I don't remember any of the poem other than that first line but I still think of it when I see the first flowers coming up in the spring.  Who am I kidding, I'm sure Mom still has the book.  She is well on her way to an appearance on Hoarders.  Maybe I can dig it up when I visit on Sunday.  The point of this story is I love that the trees are beginning to bud and the flowers and coming up!

This week I am grateful that...
  • it is Friday and I can sleep in tomorrow.
  • maybe, just maybe, winter is about over. Despite the forecast for 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow night. This has to be the last of it, really.  I loved the warm days we had at the beginning of the week.
  • the Fabulous Beekman Boys season two started this week.  Love that show.
  • there is just over a month left until the mini and then I can go back to running reasonable amounts on the weekends instead of these ridiculously long amounts.
  • my boss recognized my stress and all that I do.

Easy Easter Decorating Idea - Make Your Own Spring Wreath

I love crafts and decorating for each holiday except I don't seem to have much time to to do either!  Here is an easy and cute idea from Country Living that looks like fun to do and you get a cute decoration in the end.  This would be fun to do with kids!

Almond Joy Wreath

Jordan almonds make an especially sweet spring decoration.

1. Take a 12-inch Styrofoam wreath ($3.50;, and beginning with the inside circumference, hot glue the almonds in place, overlapping a few of them to add dimension.

2. Continue in a circular pattern until the entire front and inner and outer edges of the wreath are covered.

3. Hang with a sturdy piece of cotton ribbon, or over- size rickrack trim as shown.

To store the wreath, wrap it in paper, place flat in a box, and keep in a cool, dry spot. It should last for one to two years.

H&M Floral Maxi Skirt - In Person vs. The Ad

I posted recently about loving H&M's new line after seeing an ad in a magazine with Gisele in a fabulous maxi skirt.  Given my new obsession with maxi skirts, and seeing the price tag of $9.95, I really wanted this skirt!  I was anxious to get to H&M to see if our store had it.  After a few days of longing, I made it to H&M and found the skirt!  However, it wasn't quite what I thought it would be. I was so disapointed!  I wouldn't say the skirt was bad, or that it was misrepresented, just that I didn't like it when I saw it in person.  I don't was something about the colors, they just don't do it for me.  Has this ever happened to you?

Fabulous, right?

It looks so much better on Gisele...
I just don't think the colors are for me....

But I did get this fabulous bag!  The strap adjusts to be long enough for a crossbody.  It is the perfect size, not too big, not too small.  It was only $24.95.  Very 70's inspired.
