for safe driving in the snowy weather at the beginning of the week.
that my nephew is feeling better.
that the Oscars are on Sunday.
for supportive friends and family who listen to my venting.
that spring cannot be too far away.
I'm doing a bit of traveling for work this week and next. The lovely Indiana weather had me putting away my winter clothes last week with 60 degree temperatures and now back to snow and ice. If only the rental car place had put an ice scraper in the rental car....
Some of the best images from New York Fashion Week are not what the models are wearing but what the people watching the shows are wearing. I especially love Calvin Klein. His clothes are classic, minimalistic and chic. Here are three of my favorite looks from celebrities at the Calvin Klein Fall 2011 show at New York Fashion Week. The blue is my favorite.
- feeling better. I had a stomach bug this week and felt horrible. The good news: I lost 5 pounds! There has to be a positive for anything right? Even if it is the most unhealthy way to lose weight ever.
- having a flexible job that allows me to work from home when I'm not feeling well.
- funny emails from my coworkers that made me laugh out loud while I felt as though I was dying.
- running my personal best time for a 5k on Saturday. 28:50! Still so excited!
I'm loving these looks and bracelets from J.Crew. They are offering 20% woman's apparal, shoes, and accessories orders of $150 or more with the code FABFEB. The sale is online only and lasts through Monday.
One of the projects I have on my to do list is to reorganize my closet. It is a walk in, but barely. You can walk in but that is it. There is no walking after you make that initial step in. It is pretty small and I tend to buy more than what it can hold. I started to reorganize this past weekend. I focused on one wall in the closet that only had a small two shelf unit and I started to hang my jewlery on the wall. Things were starting to pile up on the floor and on the little shelving unit. I purchased a new plastic organizer and made a frame to hold the jewlery I use most often. I found lots of things to get rid of already and I haven't even went through the entire closet yet. I hope to have the entire closet in better shape soon but I'm encouraged by these changes already!
Over the weekend the husband and I did a little shopping to buy him some new shirts and one of our stops was Banana Republic. I am on a self imposed shopping strike this month but wasn't worried about being tempted because the last few times I had been in Banana, I hadn't really seen that much I liked. Well, they got some new stuff. I was ohhing and ahhing at the new spring jackets, cardigans, lace details and jewelry. I was good and didn't buy anything for myself. I have some things on my wish list now though. If any of these things are still around and on sale on March 1...well...I just might have to make some purchases.
Keeping with the positive theme of my gratitude post, I like my outfit today. The sweater is a little bulky to belt but it is a necessity because it is keeping my toasty warm. Here's hoping I can start to get some better pictures of my outfits. These are awful!! Whoops, switched to negative there. Maybe I should be thankful the pictures are a little grainy and out of focus!
Shirt - Old Navy
Sweater - Old Navy
Belt - Target
Jeans - Old Navy (thrifted)
Boots - Hush Puppies (Ridiculously Old)

On Monday, I saw that one of the blogs I follow, Pink to Green, has started a weekly gratitude post. I found the idea started with the Love, Life, Lace blog and was instantly hooked when I read the quote that was included her latest gratitude post. The quote was inspiring (see it above) and the idea is amazing. Studies have shown that keeping a gratitude journal raises people’s life satisfaction, improves health, increases energy, reduces troublesome thoughts, and promotes good sleep. So here is my first weekly gratitude post!
I am thankful for my job. I find it frustrating, annoying and joyless sometimes but after hearing a temp in our office this week say that both she and her husband have been out of work for a year...I am thankful for the job I have had for over 5 years.
I am thankful for the weather forecast! It is supposed to be in the 40's by Sunday and maybe even 50 next week! Amazing!!
I am thankful for my dogs. They provide lots of hugs, kisses and unconditional love.
I am thankful my husband has been safe on his job (firefighter) for 5 years now. Maybe I can start worrying less? Nah.
I am thankful for the stack of magazines at home waiting for me to read them this weekend. InStyle, Lucky, Fitness....I can't wait!
I think I am craving warm, chic and cozy things today because yesterday it was so cold the furnace in our house set at 68 degrees could only get the house heated to 61 degrees. That 61 degrees felt freezing! Then this morning outside it was a balmy -5 degrees. These frigid temperatures are supposed to warm up this weekend. Thank goodness!
I don't buy a lot of stuff from JCPenny but there is one exactly 1.5 miles from my house. (I know this because I run there and back when I want to do a 3 mile run) It is really convenient to go there so I do happen to check out what they have from time to time. I made quite a few trips there during the Christmas Shopping season and right before Christmas I found this black lace dress by I Heart Ronson for 60% off. It is usually $58.00, it was marked down to $23.20 and THEN I had a $10.00 off coupon so I got it for $13.20! (It is still available on jcpenny.com - currently on sale for $34.99)
I wasn't sure when I was going to get to wear it, I don't have too many dressier occasions, but I wore it for our "formal" night on our cruise. I just love it. It is super comfortable and the lace seems really well made, it is actually a pretty heavy dress. My only regret is that they didn't have an extra small. The small I have is a little big on me which is strange because I don't usually wear extra smalls! I am hoping to restyle it for winter here in Indiana with black tights and a colorful cardigan.
As I have blogged before, I am so loving the 70's looks that are back on trend for spring. Wide leg/flare leg jeans especially. Here are two looks I happened across that I just love. Diane Kruger always looks chic, I love how she is rocking the Chanel bag as a cross body. (please note my use of the word "rocking" which I have been doing lately...not sure wear I picked this up...not sure of its use...I don't think the kids are using this word so much anymore...)
My closet is a disaster. You could think of it in one of two ways; either I have too many clothes or my closet is just too small. In this February of no shopping, I am aiming to organize my closet. Here are some pictures for inspiration. Unfortunately, I don't think turning one of our extra rooms into my closet is an option so I will have to work with the small walk in I have. There are some great ideas here though that hopefully can transfer to a smaller space.
